Cuddalore

The municipal town of cuddalore is an ancient sea port for coastal vessels .It is about 14 miles from the French settlement of Pondicherry and was for many years the bone of contention between the French and the British during the 18 th century .The remains of fort st.David which was built by the east India company with the permission of the khan of Gingee .a local chief ,still exist .The chief produce of the surrounding area is groundnuts which is largely exported to Europe .The port is about three miles from the railway station connected by wharf siding .So no doubt this coastal city is a worth visit and the places to visit there are real visual treats .
